Many people often doubt that they have enough talent to do a specific job or even become an expert in their field. They think that it needs a certain pre-position to become an expert. But what is the definition of an expert and how does one really get to be one? Is an expert in automation automatically also an expert in exploratory testing? And why is it important anyway?
In this masterclass Vera talks about expertise and talent – or the lack thereof.
Vera gives an academic definition of what an expert looks like how they differentiate from a novice and the ranges in between. Vera also talks about why the domain is a relevant factor when talking about expertise. In the end, Vera discusses why the range of expertise is of importance when training yourself and others -and not necessarily the perceived level of talent.
After this masterclass you will be able to:
- Describe what an expert is and what role talent really plays
- Explain why the domain is really important
- Explain the difference between an expert and a novice
- Explain deliberate practice
- And understand why training for a different level of expertise really makes a difference!
