Talk Description

This is the harrowing tale of how a seasoned tester had the opportunity develop a feature and came face to face with the challenge of producing quality code in an environment of shifting design priorities and over-burdened test organisations.

Will she be able to overcome developer myopia and design confusion to deliver her feature on time and avoid major production issues? Or will she succumb to feature bloat and the failure of untested scenarios?

Listen to this true story of how I got to experience feature development from the other side and came through with an even greater appreciation of how developers and testers can work together to create great software.

Takeaways

  • Tips on how to communicate with developers and product owners
  • How to ask developers the right questions to get the information you need to test
  • Spotting potential problems in a feature design
  • A greater appreciation of the tester's role in a development organisation
