A tester is for life, not just for Christmas

This Christmas The Software Testing Club would like to spread a little love by giving away a super awesome eBook entitled “A Tester is for life, not just for Christmas”. The only thing we ask is that you consider donating as much as you can afford to Oxfam this Christmas. (although it will not actually be required to download the book)

But I’m jumping ahead because at the moment, we don’t even have an eBook to give away….but that’s not a problem. Not for such an ingenious, industrious and productive community like ours.

So here’s the plan:

You spend about 10 – 20 minutes filling in this Form. Myself, Rosie and a few volunteers will collate the answers, hoof them in to a typically amazing Testing Club ebook format and then we’ll pop it on the Testing Club blog for everyone to download. Oh yes, and whilst downloading the book how about donating via our Just Giving site : http://www.justgiving.com/TestingClub?
We have a modest target of just £250.

The book will have a few extra special additions as well as the responses you all submit too. It should be a cracker.

So here’s the short of it all:

The goal of this Software Testing eBook is to raise a “boat load” of cash for Oxfam this Christmas.

The eBook will be free to download from The Software Testing Club but we would love you make a donation (as much as you can afford) via our Just Giving site : http://www.justgiving.com/TestingClub

The Audience for this eBook is anyone wanting to find out more about Software Testing or wanting to look for inspiration on where to push their learning. Or anyone interested in what other testers are suggesting to push our learning to the next level.

The Purpose of this book is to be a quick reference guide. It’s to serve as a journey of learning and development. It’s to serve as a fascinating collection of words of wisdom and paths of learning from a wide array of Software Testing professionals. But let’s not forget, it’s also intended to raise a “barrel load” of money for charity this Christmas..oh yeah.

And you know what. We want this eBook to make you think about your testing worlds. With book recommendations, up-and-coming tester shout outs, tools of choice and dedicated rant sections; we’re sure you will find something to contribute….and then of course to enjoy once you’ve downloaded the nice eBook after.

So if you want to help out then you can do the following….please.

1. Take some time out to fill in this form. Please consider that this is for charity and should not be a blatant plug of your company or product. (read the small print later)

2. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it. Promote it.

3. Then download the eBook (when published) and donate via http://www.justgiving.com/TestingClub

Please do read the small print at the end of the form. It’s important.

Note: There is an initial limit of around 50 responses for the ebook. These will be chosen on content merit alone and not on order of received. This number may fluctuate depending on size and structure of the book.

All submissions will be put out via another medium at or around Christmas 2010.

All details you enter in this form will be public, so be careful with your words and contact information.

Any questions email rob@softwaretestingclub.com

If you would like to share your words of wisdom with the Testing Community then please spare some time to fill in this form here:
And we’d like to say a HUGE  Thank-you too for your time on this project.
