Four Ds of effective AI usage (AI Fluency Framework)

18 Jun 2026

If you, fellow tester, work with AI, remember the four 4 Ds:

  • To delegate tasks for AI, we need to know about the capabilities and limitations of AI tools and models
  • To describe tasks for AI, we need to know our products and the systems, and communicate clearly with the "machine"
  • To discern the output from AI, we need to have domain expertise, technical background, and also thinking (critical, system)
  • To use AI diligently, we need to know who and how will use the output of the AI and adapt it accordingly

Those are things we, as effective testers, need to conquer for the future.

These statements are based on the 4D AI Fluency Framework. More about it in the course from Anthropic.
