Definition: Management information (MI) is data that has been processed and presented to help managers monitor performance and make strategic decisions. It is often produced from a data warehouse as reports, dashboards or trends.
So what? If MI is wrong, decisions are made on bad evidence. Testers working on MI need to question both the data and how it's summarised, not just whether reports run.
Examples: A monthly report on mortgage arrears trends for senior managers. Trending customer contacts by channel to check customers are being treated fairly.
