TestOps

Definition: TestOps is an approach where testers focus on the live production system and use production data, rather than lab test results, as the main signal of software quality. The name combines testing with operations (Ops), the teams that traditionally run and monitor live services.

So what? For services running at scale, real usage and telemetry reveal problems lab tests miss. TestOps shifts testers towards building tools to collect and analyse that data, bringing testing, development and operations work closer together.

Examples: Analysing real users' search queries to find results a scripted test suite marked as passing. Running automated tests continuously in production and judging them against availability and performance targets.
