Modern software testing would be nearly unrecognizable to someone from a decade ago. Advancements in technologies are transforming user experience, enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and elevating the need for quality in many dimensions.
The emergence of technology like AI and the integration of CI/CD tools to accelerate the software development lifecycle have had widespread implications across QA. To overcome this, automation is now an essential need and the adoption of methodologies like Agile and shift left testing is the default. All of this comes together to mean that nowadays, there’s a lot more to learn and develop in software QA than just testing.

With more than a decade of experience in Software QA and expertise in several business areas, PatrĂcia Duarte Mateus has a QA mindset built by the different roles she has played—including tester, test manager, test analyst, and QA engineer.
She's Portuguese, living in Portugal, and is currently a Solution Architect and QA Advocate for TestRail.
PatrĂcia is also a speaker, mentor and founder of a project whose objective is to demystify and educate on Software QA with a focus on Portuguese-speaking people.
