From The Traitors to Testers: Why Perspective Matters

Simon Devon explores how our lived experiences shape the way we approach software testing, and why bringing different perspectives into QA teams can lead to better outcomes for everyone. Drawing on his own experience of having a stammer, he shares examples of how everyday technology, particularly voice recognition systems, can fail users whose needs haven't been considered during testing.

Simon challenges us to think beyond technical skills when building testing teams, recognising the value of different backgrounds, abilities, and experiences in identifying issues that might otherwise go unnoticed. He makes the case that quality is ultimately about people, and that more inclusive teams can help create more accessible, reliable, and thoughtful software for the real world.
