The very first conference I ever spoke at was a Ministry of Testing conference.  It’s what made me really fall in love with the community of testing. Not only could I get up in front of my peers and talk about something that I was very passionate about, but they would respond. You’re never yelling into a void. Every time I step on stage, I want to start a conversation.  Ministry of Testing taught me that it is possible and valued.

Without that first TestBash in Philadelphia, I wouldn’t be the speaker I am today, and I wouldn’t have the passion for building communities in my workplace, professional life and personal life that I have now… Also, I got a fantastic job offer and stayed at that gig for almost 5 years. 🥰

Being invited hits differently than being accepted. Show up consistently, and eventually, the community notices.
