Saying Goodbye to CommunityBossing

Heather is going back to software testing!

Saying Goodbye to CommunityBossing image

Yesterday I told team MoT that I will be leaving the team. It’s both exciting and sad news. I have missed testing so much and I'm excited to take this step but also nervous.

I’m nervous because I’ve been moderating this community since 2016! I’m excited because testing lights a spark in me. It’s the excitement of discovery, it's what will come next, it’s the endless learning possibilities and more. I miss it all.

My time away from MoT in the past year resulted in much reflection. I returned to work not sure what to expect and, if I’m honest, not really feeling like community management was for me anymore. Simon Tomes was positively BUZZING about community! He had so many ideas of what to experiment with and how to get more people involved. I was excited for him but I was also sad for myself. Some things about the community still very much excited me but I felt like it wasn’t enough. I didn’t have the same spark for community as I had for testing. Or, to better phrase, the spark for testing overshadowed the spark for community management.

I am excited to announce that I’ll be moving to Glofox, a company whose testers are very active in the community and whom I greatly respect. I’m looking forward to learning from them and contributing back to this community in a different way because I won't be gone far! I'll still be a Pro member, I'll still attend MoT events and I’ll still have the greatest of respect for everyone who makes this the amazing community it is.

I want to thank each and every one of you for helping me through the good and bad times of CommunityBossing. I'm so excited to see what comes next for MoT and I'll be cheering you on from the sidelines.
