I am always confused as a professional who knows my stuff, because I've been to a few meetups, but never felt the need to, or drive, to speak. I blog, but intermittently and only as a brain-dump to future myself. So when someone says they stopped going to meetings and engagements, that feels to me like a big change has hit them.
