The amount of disability aids is amazing
01 Oct 2026
I’m genuinely impressed by how much thought has gone into accessibility and accommodations for disabled and neurodivergent attendees!
A few things that stood out to me:
🌻 Sunflower lanyards for people with invisible disabilities
💬 Live captions alongside speakers’ talks
🗓️ Workshop agendas with clear timing and structure, which makes the day much more predictable
🤫 Quiet spaces for taking a break
🎧 Noise-cancelling headphones available on site
👓 And even a whole station with simulations of different visual impairments, so people can experience some of the barriers users may face and think about accessibility from a different perspective when testing products!
I also had a chance to tell some of my colleagues about the Sunflower Lanyard scheme and invisible disabilities. It was really nice to see how genuinely interested they were — a small bit of accessibility advocacy during the conference.
💛 And there’s one more thing that makes me especially happy: when I registered for MoTaCon, I mentioned Sunflower Lanyards, quiet spaces, and live captions in the accessibility requests. Of course, I have no idea how many other people asked for the same things, and I’m definitely not claiming this happened because of my feedback. But seeing all of them actually implemented feels incredibly good.
It’s a great reminder that asking for accommodations matters — and that organizers listening to those requests matters just as much. Thank you, Ministry of Testing, for hearing all voices and being so thoughtful and considerate!

Thank you, we do try, and I'm neurodivergent myself :)

I hope every conference will offer quiet spaces one day, but right now only the very best do, such as MoTaCon 😇
For me it's also great to take a moment in between socialising to recharge and relax.
