Talk Description
Inside every department of every company, there is a Community of Practice just sitting there; waiting to find itself. They may exist for you already – you might call them Guilds, Tribes, Gatherings or Roundups – anywhere that a group of people with shared ideas and interests can come together and grow together has the potential to become a successful Community of Practice.

And communities need leaders.

Drew would like to share with you his experiences of trying, failing, and trying again to help build successful communities, the difference they can make to your test team, the ever changing role of the leader, and discuss the importance of balancing passion and leadership to ensure others get the chance to grow.

Drew Pontikis

I'm a Quality Manager based in Cambridgeshire UK, and have been working in software testing for the past eight years. I am passionate about quality and the human aspects of testing - how we feel about the software we build impacts how our customers will feel about it. I work and coach with amazing testers who do wonderful things every day to make sure that our customers will enjoy using our products. In my spare time I'm an organiser for the Ministry of Testing Peterborough meetup to help the community in my area grow, a STEM Ambassador working with schools and children to inspire the next generation of technology lovers, and an avid reader - because it makes me happy.
