W3C WebDriver Bidi, testing and you

Selenium, and many other tools, make use of the W3C WebDriver protocol in order to automate browsers.

However, since the WebDriver spec became a recommendation, technology and the times have moved on. Fortunately, so has the spec, and work is progressing on its next iteration, which we're calling WebDriver Bidi.

In this talk, I'll introduce WebDriver Bidi, explain the history of where it came from, discuss how widely implemented it is, and which tools use it.

We'll explore how Selenium is taking advantage of Bidi in order to offer next-generation testing capabilities without needing you to throw out your entire existing test suite, and we'll discuss how the work of people from the Selenium project has helped make the new standard a reality.
