So there it is. My first full calendar year as a freelancer. Of course, the bulk of my work has been for the Ministry of Testing on first the Software Testing Essentials Certificate (STEC, STEC, STEC). I may be slightly biased, but it is the most comprehensive teaching from dozens of industry experts on learning software testing on the planet. Pun intended. At the end of the year, I'm working on the Software Quality Engineering Certificate (SQEC, SQEC, SQEC). It is my absolute honour to be a curator for MoT, and help guide as well as contribute directly to them.
I've written quite a few articles, starting with an introduction to CI/CD pipelines and ending with Lessons for software testers from three great Western philosophers. There were more in between, including a follow-up to my personal experience of burnout on getting unstuck. And a couple on how we think about testing. I contributed to courses, added memories and memes, and earned badges. In fact, I found out during This Year in Testing that my 52 is the highest in the MoTaverse! I've also contributed the most terms to the Glossary! Getting involved in more TWiQ has been fun, and TestBash, now MoTaCon, was a blast. Scott and I received some great feedback on our talk, which should have been a workshop on becoming a generalist.
I have to mention the Starvalance towards the end of 2025. 200 plus in both November and December. Seeing learners complete your lessons, especially multiple ones in a day, is lovely. I've soared up to 783 (or 784 if you count this one), and more come every day. I am active, though. 1250 activities and counting. Hoping for many more years serving the testing community, having fun and both learning and helping others to learn along the way.
