The power of being a thought worker is the pause to think before we act

Simon and Ady are smiling on screen, talking to each other, with the message 'recording is paused' beneath their images. Simon is wearing a dark blue Ministry of Testing hoodie, a MoTaverse cap, and headphones. Ady has a rainbow MoT purple t-shirt under a red patterned cardigan.
In this memory: Simon Tomes Ady Stokes

In conversation with Simon Tomes as part of his Call for Insights series, he put me on the spot with this question.

So, Ady, I was thinking for our listeners, a final thought from you is what would you say to people out there that might not realise the power of being a thought worker? What's your kind of go-to line to say to them, consider this about being a thought worker?

My reply, like the question above, is taken from the transcript.

Consider this. As a thought worker in software testing, your value is immense. If you don't think of yourself as a thought worker, you are devaluing yourself.
You have value, all your experience, your knowledge, everything you've read, everything you've learned, goes into what you do on a daily basis. And being more mindful of that, more aware of it, and more visible with it will increase your reputation and value, and help you do better work.

The pause before we act is where all the value is.

So remember to pause, think, and then act.
