One reason why I love being in tech is the challenge of learning something new. And, sometimes, the thing that scares me is the prospect of learning the new thing. Asking for help can be a powerful way to break through the overwhelm.

Just today, I sent a message to a developer asking for help learning some new tech. I admitted that I don't know very much but wanted to learn. Their response? They admitted that they feel the same way. They agreed to meet with me, and they hoped that what they could share would also increase their learning.

Teach to learn. Learn to teach.

If you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed by something you don't know, reach out to someone you trust. It's okay to be vulnerable and admit what you don't know. You might be surprised how welcome your questions and vulnerability are.

Yes, it's so easy to fall into the assumption that others know more. Often they don't!
