Have a look at this beautiful skyline of Berlin, and let me give you a tour!
We start with the Reichstag to the right, a building with lots of history which serves as the permanent seat of the Bundestag, the federal parliament of Germany! It features a big glass dome that is open to the public, offering 360-degree views of Berlin and allowing visitors to literally look down into the legislative chamber.
A short walk over to Pariser Platz, and we stand in front of the Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate) with the Quadriga on top. This monument was built by the Prussian King Frederick William II between 1788 and 1791 and the Quadriga was added two years later. In 1806 Napoleon came, saw and took her away to Paris! We got it back 8 years later, followed by some very dark times, until it was reopened in 1989.
Let's turn around and we can already see our next stop: The Fernsehturm (TV tower)! Did you know it was originally planned to be built in the southeast of Berlin, almost 20 km (12.5mi) from where it stands today? We stroll along the boulevard Unter den Linden (under the linden trees) and then take the elevator to reach the sphere at an altitude of 203 metres. From here we can really see the whole city!
Now we'll take the famous yellow U-Bahn (underground) to Kreuzberg-Friedrichshain, where some people may get confused, because it's actually not always running under the ground. Hungry yet? We've got you covered with Currywurst und Pommes (fries)!
Before we end our tour in the karaoke bar, we'll have a look at one of the remnants of the Berlin Wall - better known as East Side Gallery. Some of the old artworks from the Nineties have been removed in the past years, but most were restaurated and are telling their stories until today! It's a free, international, open-air art show. This is Berlin!
