I have always enjoyed the "doing" aspect of my job. For long, I considered this to be the pathway to excellence and leadership.
However, in my recent endeavours with leadership, I have come to realise that real leadership is not about being the best doer. Instead, it is about creating the space and environment for others to shine. It is about understanding that the skills that made you a "great doer", might not necessarily make you a "great facilitator of doing."
Therefore, when in a position of leadership, it is important to practice "the art of letting go" of the doer tendencies, and embrace a facilitator mindset, to give space for others to grow and develop their own skills.
