The true impact

During a recent conversation with Rosie Sherry, she mentioned the impact that AI was having on how development and testing is carried out. And it made me think, everyone is so busy talking about the impact of AI on how we work that no one seems to be discussing the real impact:
- Loss of green space/farmland to build data centres
- Water use for cooling can reach 1-5 million gallons of water per day per data centre, the same as a town of 10,000 people
- AI data centres can use 10× more power than traditional cloud centers
To name but a few.
We may be speeding up how we work but what is the cost to the Planet and everything we share it with?

Thanks for shining a light on this. You're absolutely right, we are all consumed with our own battles with AI, that we need to be reminded about the bigger picture. 🙏
