Pieter describes his own local device lab of twenty devices connected to several Wi-Fi networks and SIM cards, used to manually monitor app behaviour across multiple real conditions during a live event. Unlike emulators or cloud device farms, a device lab provides direct access to real hardware, which is especially important when testing mobile performance or operating system behaviour that vendors restrict.
