Forward Deployed QA

Forward Deployed QA image
Forward Deployed QA (FDQA),  A client-facing quality engineering role embedded directly within a customer's organisation to validate, secure, and optimise custom AI integrations in live production environments. Working in tandem with Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), the FDQA shifts testing right, focusing on how probabilistic AI models behave when exposed to a specific client's messy, unstructured real-world data and legacy infrastructure.

Because AI cannot be fully validated in a vacuum, the FDQA role has emerged to solve the "last mile" of software quality. While traditional Quality Engineers build foundational test frameworks in-house, the FDQA operates on the front lines, navigating the complex intersection of AI governance, client stakeholder management, and live system validation. This is a new trend in software testing roles and one to watch.
