Phishing
Phishing is a type of social engineering that uses fraudulent email, messages or websites to trick people into sharing sensitive information (including passwords), downloading malware, ransomeware or otherwise exposing themselves to cybercrime. In a typical phishing scam, the attacker impersonates an authority figure or representative of a well-known brand and urges the victim to open an attachment, click a link or take some other action that disguises the attack method. Because the victim trusts the supposed source of the message, they often follow the instructions and fall for the attack.
