    Code Reviews for Testers

    99 Minute Workshop

Code reviews are not always an activity testers are getting involved in. Be it by choice, be it due to the culture of the organisation. Whatever the reason, it is a shame, because as a tester there are lots of benefits to be gained by actively participating in code reviews. Benefits like getting test ideas, and spotting bugs in an earlier stage.

In this workshop we will go into more details on these and other benefits, and how you can get involved in code reviews. I will also explain the importance of keeping reviews meaningful and respectful, including ways to achieve that.

    • Formulate test ideas from the code submitted for review
    • Identify potential issues by looking at the code
    • Provide respectful and meaningful feedback in a (code) review

    Lead systems verification engineer
I am a seasoned software tester with over 20 years of experience. I specialise in test automation, test management and continuous integration. I started my career in The Netherlands and later moved to Scotland. On both sides of the North Sea, I have worked on numerous projects in a wide range of industries. I'm currently working as a senior systems verification engineer at Optos in Dunfermline, Scotland. In my work I want to be challenged and am always on the lookout for the next problem to solve. And when not working, I like to explore the Scottish countryside and enjoy a good ale or whisky.
