Talk Description
There is no spreadsheet for estimating a test project. There never will be. This is because testing is not a mechanical or linear task: it's a learning process and a design process. But of course, we can do a lot to anticipate the efforts and the obstacles of testing.

In this masterclass, James shares his basic approach to test estimation that involves no telling of lies or fairy tales. You will be shown useful resources and methods to create baseline testing estimates and share the logic behind test estimates with your shareholders.

By the end of this session, you'll be able to:

  • Use a model to explain the logic of test estimation to your shareholders
  • Recognise the value of openly using justified buffers
  • Use a model and visualization methods to create honest baseline testing estimates
  • List what you can and can't control
