I don't typically set goals, and don't share them. But next year is potentially a big one. For me personally, by the time MoTaCon rolls around, I'll have had my 60th birthday, and I'll celebrate by going on a cruise with family. I found out, after over 40 years, what the root cause of my chronic back pain is. Turns out I have one leg longer than the other. It was broken when I was 7, and must have healed longer? I've been wearing an insert in my shoes to even me up, and my back pain has halved over the last 6 months. So I'm hoping to raise my fitness and get back to some regular exercise. But enough about me. What are my goals?
I want to turn my research into thought work and mindsets in software testing into more tangible and shareable outcomes. I already have several article ideas ready to be fleshed out into outlines, which I can use to focus my research. But I think there might be enough for a book on the subject to help and support testers really understand their thinking and how to apply it to their testing. I've never written a book, although I have written a lot and contributed to a couple. It feels scary, very difficult, and I'm not sure how or even if I can, but if you don't try, you have already failed, so why not?
I want to continue contributing to the testing universe, mainly through Ministry of Testing, but I'm open to other platforms. It is and always will be my absolute privilege and honour to curate MoT certificates and courses. Helping create the best training and learning content for the community is so very rewarding. Hearing the stories of people who have been helped in their careers is so wonderful. STEC is amazing, SQEC is on its way, and there are more fantastic certificates and courses in the pipeline.
Of course, I will probably submit something for MoTaCon too.
That's about it. What about you?
