Build an advanced MoT profile

I loved seeing my Ministry of Testing profile being featured in the Testing Planet at TestBash, through a spot the difference on the centre spread! This was great for my career as it immediately boosted my personal brand and put my name in front of hundreds of community members.

Your MoT profile acts as a dynamic portfolio, which can be viewed by contribution type or in date order. It contains my interests, which, rather than just listing skills on my CV, link to contributions and badges for completing courses.

Beyond the visibility, the profile reinforces my professional missions. Firstly, my bio highlights my focus on decoding "dev-speak" to help teams adopt automation and AI-accelerated quality engineering — a claim that is immediately backed up by evidence on my page, most obviously through technical glossary contributions. Secondly, I believe automation should surface the bugs that PMs actually care about fixing, and I have showcased this through moments, a call for insights and software testing live with Ben Dowen.

If you exclude the Ministry of Testing team, I'd certainly say I'm in the top 10% of profiles by community stars, which shows people, hiring managers and new team members that I am able to consistently contribute to testing outside of office hours, which helps my career.

When exploring other people's profiles, you have the ability to award them stars, perhaps for their contributions, for accepting a challenge or in thanks. This feature has been available since June 2025, as Rosie Sherry awarded me a star for being the first community member (outside of MoT staff) to award a star to someone else!
