Journey Through the Stars

7 Months ago today I wrote a moment about my goals for 2026 (My goals for 2026 | MoTaverse). In this post I wanted to provide an update and reflect on the year so far.

Shortly after posting that moment, my goals were featured in an episode of TWiQ where we discussed our goal and aspirations for the forthcoming year.  A little later in the month I then setup a community catch up call with Simon Tomes.  Shortly before we did the call Simon dropped me a message on Slack to ask if I minded recording our call in case there was anything we discussed that could be captured as an insights article and captured on my profile.

As a result of our call he captured some short nuggets from our fuller conversation and posted them as memories (which you can see on my profile). It was rather cool to see these posted as moments and be one of the first people to help Simon explore his new idea which later became the Call For Insights initiative, which of course is now 45 full episodes old and still expanding (Call for Insights turns 45 | MoTaverse).  Last week I decided to put myself forward for doing a full Call For Insights which I'm rather excited about recording next week!!

One of my aspirations at the start of the year was to join the stage at TWiQ more often and get involved in more lean coffee events.  Since then I've seen TWiQ evolve from audio only to video and for roundtables to be introduced. Due to some technical microphone issues I only managed to get on stage for a few of these since.  One was whilst in was still audio only session, but last week I joined the stage with video and sound (which I'll admit I was a bit nerve-wracking but I was really pleased I gave a go)!  Fingers crossed my technical gremlins are now are a thing of the past and I can do more of these going forward, plus participate in other sessions such as roundtables.

Unfortunately health wise I had a few up and downs early summer so my contributions tailed off a bit.  Thankfully there was always a live or recorded TWiQ to listen to so although I wasn't as active I could still keep myself up to date with what is happening in the MotaVerse!! I am hoping my recent contributions will build up a little momentum now as we head deeper into the second part of the year, especially with  Leading with Quality and MoTaCon events on the horizon.

One challenge for me will be keeping the momentum going with the courses I've started as well as working through the Quality Engineering Certificate as part of my unlimited subscription. With a busy job its sometimes hard to set aside enough time to focus on these extra learning opportunities.  My plan will be to build up a good set of notes and reflections from the lessons which I can then look to share via new moments.

Aside from all of that one little side project I am hoping to look into is to revisit my historic blogs.  Rather than just repost I'm hoping to share in a memory post the original text and reflect on the content and where I was at that point in my journey. To be honest I've not got that many but I thought it would be nice to revisit and renew these inside the MoTaverse. 

I'm very much looking forward to being involved more over the next few months and really looking forward to seeing everyone in Brighton!!
