Preparing for MoTaCon (as an introvert)

Preparing in three parts:

1. One last rehearsal of my talk
2. Packing my bag and hoping I don't forget anything.
3. Preparing mentally....

...as an introvert, conferences can be challenging. Lots of people, lots of conversations, and not always a quiet place to recharge. That's okay, as long as you prepare. 

Today I'm enjoying the blissful silence of working from home. Tomorrow I'll join the pre-conference social event, but probably won't stay all evening so I can unwind in my hotel room. MoTaCon itself will be a lot, but I'm taking full advantage of everything it has to offer. The day after? That's my recharge day. I won't be joining the walking tour, but I'll be going out on my own; a nice walk, a bit of reading in a cafe over tea and then off to the airport again.

I know I need my social battery recharged again after a long conference day, but that doesn't stop me from going. Knowing your limits doesn't mean missing out. It means planning your energy so you can fully enjoy the experience.
