Testers have fingers in all the pies

"I think as testers we got fingers in all the pies, our role is not just to lead the testers!" β Samuel Webb
This is a quote today from TWiQ. And I love it.
The world is changing. Our roles are changing. And of course, not just testing or quality, all roles feel like they undergo change.
Stressful? Yes.
Exciting? Possibly.
I choose to be optimistic and build for a beautiful world.
From a quality and testing perspective, it increasingly feels like we have fingers in many if not all the pies. It's continuous. It's systems focused. It's maintenance minded. It's quality coaching minded.
We can lead with quality, we have to. We can lead testers, but anyone else in our teams too.
We can also open our minds to be lead by others. Every role probably needs to lead in different and new ways too. And perhaps the best way to figure it out is by dipping our fingers to all the pies.Β
The most important thing is to explore good ways. Let go of ways that have been, figure out what is the best way forward. Change is here, it's happening, and it's more constant than ever before.

I've been working in the software testing and quality engineering space since the year 2000 whilst also combining it with my love for education and community. It turns out quality, community and education go nicely hand in hand.
