What do you mean, it has been two years?

I wanted to post on LinkedIn today, about our next MoT Berlin chapter event that's coming up this Wednesday:

Casual Get Together @ Mauerpark
Wed, 9 Sep 2026

17:30 - 21:00 CEST
Location: Mauerpark, Bernauer Str. 63, 13355 Berlin (on the steps)

But then it hit me:

Almost exactly two years ago, 7 days from now, I organized my first MoT Berlin event 😱

Earlier that year, I had a call with Simon about ways for me to contribute more in the testing community. He suggested to join MoT Berlin and see if they needed any support, and then one thing let to another, and two months later I was already organizing a casual get-together in a beer garden for people in testing!?

We've had many more events since then: Formal ones with speakers in sponsored spaces, we met in parks and restaurants, had game nights and even went to the christmas market! One thing I've learned is that it doesn't matter how big or small your event is, no matter if 5 people show up or 50. You're giving people in the community you care about the opportunity to share their knowledge, learn something new, find their next role or walk home with a new friend.

A huge thank you to Nico & Jan for letting me join the fun, to Christine & Ashutosh for being on this journey with me, to Diana for all the support and of course to Simon & Rosie for making this possible in the first place and always encouraging me to #JustGoForIt!
