Eric JESSE
I’m Eric Jesse, founder and lead architect of QALIPSIS. I have spent decades working in IT consulting and software architecture, helping teams design and deliver complex software systems.
The idea for QALIPSIS emerged in 2021 while I was building an IoT platform composed of microservices and messaging technologies. We needed to test complete business workflows across APIs, databases, message brokers and asynchronous services, while also understanding how the system behaved under significant load. Existing tools could test individual parts, but they did not give us the depth, scalability and visibility we needed across the entire distributed system.
That experience led me to create QALIPSIS: an open-source platform for end-to-end, performance and load testing of modern software architectures. It is built with Kotlin and the JVM ecosystem and is designed to work with technologies and professional toolchains such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQTT, Kubernetes, Gradle, Grafana, Prometheus and Elasticsearch.
My main interest is what happens beyond a successful API response. Did the expected event reach the message broker? Did every downstream service complete its work? Did the system remain reliable under realistic traffic? For me, testing should help teams understand the behaviour of the complete system and make confident engineering decisions.
Through the Ministry of Testing community, I would like to exchange practical experiences with testers, developers, architects and DevOps engineers. I’m particularly interested in distributed-system testing, asynchronous workflows, observability, test automation and realistic performance testing. I’m also happy to share lessons from building QALIPSIS and learn how other teams approach quality in increasingly complex systems.

Here are a few ways you can help them get started:-
Tag them in a Moment. Think of a Moment as a blog post. Mention
in one of yours so they see they're already part of the conversation. - Invite them to an Event. There are plenty of online and in-person events to choose from. A shared event is an easy way to connect.
- Credit them in The Observatory. Share a link they pointed you to, or one they'd value. A small nod goes a long way.
- Suggest they comment on a Session, Moment or Insight. Commenting is a good way to find your voice. Give them a reason to jump in.
- Point them to the Glossary. Suggest a term they could add, or their take on one. Everyone has an interpretation worth sharing.
- Bring them into a Chapter. These are topic and location-based spaces for members to gather. Help them find their people.
