MoT Certifications vs ISTQB

💼 ISTQB Certifications
1️⃣ Traditional & Top-Down: Built on an old-school model with minimal practitioner input
2️⃣ Theory-Heavy: Focuses on terminology and textbook-style knowledge, not real-life testing
3️⃣ Static Content:often disconnected from modern testing practices
4️⃣ Expensive & Bureaucratic: Costly to take, and often required just to tick a hiring box
5️⃣ Exam-Oriented: Emphasis is on passing the test, not actual learning or growth
6️⃣ Vendor-Led: Designed and controlled by a closed group, not the broader testing community
7️⃣ Limited Practical Relevance: Lacks the nuance and adaptability of real-world testing environments
8️⃣ Slow to Evolve: Doesn’t keep pace with the changing nature of tech and quality roles

Recruiters and candidates need to distance themselves from seeing ISTQB as a "must have" when considering applications for roles. But I still see CV's that have the ISTQB logo slapped in the corner as the boldest thing for us to see. We need to break that cycle.
