I like this phrase from Elizabeth Zagroba:
She said:
"Another thing I love to do is to tell managers what's happening. Managers, particularly when they support a lot of individuals, cannot keep their eye on everything, and so they won't know if someone's secretly mad at them or secretly mad at me.
And so even just sending a message to be like, hey, this guy might secretly be mad at me for this reason, it's not a valid reason, but now you know what's happening, was something that could help keep my manager in the loop."
So, maybe, another phrase of this is "keeping leaders in the loop". (In line with "human in the loop" or "quality in the loop")
From one side, the people need to learn to get good at feeding bits of information that might help keep the system flowing.
From a leadership perspective we need to think about how to encourage this as a culture and use said information in the best possible way.
