Re-enacting the chef's kiss and the good problem of MoT Profiles

We had our monthly Ambassador's call yesterday. We use it as an opportunity to catch up, answer any questions and give updates on things we are working on in the MoTaverse.

This time, we gave a little tour of our redesign of MoT Profiles. (It's almost here!)

Quality challenges can also be represented as good problems to have. We've had MoT Profiles for almost two years now, and one of the good problems we've had is that they've outgrown their original and very low key design efforts. Over time, we snuck in new things, people kept adding all sorts of new types of contributions, and the list of badges that had started out as a small amount started expanding to the extent that MoT Profiles weren't quite cutting it anymore. The bloat and overwhelm of the design felt real. MoT Profiles were no longer passing The Ahh Test, but we were also really happy about it because isn't it cool that people's profiles are growing? And that something we've built is actually getting used.

As we were browsing through the new MoT profiles design, it became super clear how valuable this is going to be.  I see a huge part of our commmunity-as-a-service model is to make people look awesome. That's firmly stuck in our minds. Every contribution and consumption activity will count towards showing your amazingness. We will surface what you may feel is mediocre, only to be thankful that the system has done it on your behalf...because, quite frankly, many of us so easily dismiss the value we bring.

What's more. What you may dismiss as insignificant is not necessarily so. From another person's perspective, it can be interesting, or in accumulation it can be impressive (to whoever may need to be impressed in the future). Really all of this is tapping into representing lifelong learning.

I'm still working on how to simply explain the community-as-a-service model, slowly it's becoming clearer and MoT Profiles are a clear demonstration of it in action.

This is all our service to you, and we track everything, on your behalf so that you can be free to focus on doing the things to help you grow. Your MoT profile is what unlocks future opportunities, many of them out of the blue, often through the MoTaverse, but for sure you know you can lean on your MoT Profile to support you throughout your career.

I keep using the word beautiful with real belief and authenticity. The more I show up, and share in the MoTaverse, the more I don't want to be anywhere else.

And as we shared the MoT Profiles with the team, I got a bit emotional at how awesome people looked. And perhaps for the first time in my life, I expressed it as a chef's kiss. So here is a photo of me re-enacting the chef's kiss.
