Abby Bangser is a software tester with a keen interest in working on products where fellow engineers are the users. Abby brings the techniques of analysing and testing customer facing products to tools like delivery pipelines and logging so as to generate clearer feedback and greater value. Abby has a strong background in QA across software projects and platform engineering teams which she is now using in her new role as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE).

Outside of work Abby is active in the community by co-leading Speak Easy which mentors new and diverse speakers, co-hosting the London free meetup Software Testing Clinic which brings together mentors and new joiners to the software testing industry, and hosting the London branch of #CoffeeOps meetup. For me, the various software development disciplines are complementary, and they are more effective when each discipline understands the fundamentals of the others. Testers especially need to have many strings to their bow as they are also an information conduit, seeking information and getting it to people who can benefit from it. My view of testing and software development is heavily influenced by my martial arts background. I hold a 5th Dan in kendo and represented Australia several times at the world kendo championships. Just as with kendo, or anything worth mastering, software testing requires consistent and deliberate practice with the intent to improve. Software testing has been a huge part of my life for more than fifteen years now. I’ve built and led teams in Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom at companies ranging from small start-ups to enterprise-level multinational corporations, including heading up software testing for the European Product Development department at eBay. I’m now the managing director of House of Test UK. In addition to my company duties, I like to run workshops and speak at conferences around the world. There are some really interesting developments in the software testing industry. There’s a critical mass of skilled practitioners connecting with one another to share their experience and skills, and I’m excited to be a part of it.

Mike Talks works in Wellington, shaping testing approaches for a number of projects. He loves strategy in all shapes and sizes, having helped to deliver all shapes and size of project. However, challenge him to a game of chess, and he might need clarification of "how does the horsey move again?".

Christopher Chant is a determined and passionate test professional with experience across multiple domains. He has learned to embrace all parts of the development lifecycle as learning opportunities: working in business analysis, development, testing and coaching roles in an attempt to help teams grow and deliver. These days Christopher is looking at ways that the Satir Model and Cynefin can be used to aid teams and organisations make safe changes. When not testing, Christopher spends his time running (not often enough), bouldering, travelling all over the country to watch Nottingham Forest F.C. lose (occasionally they win), jealously looking at other people's dogs and playing board games.

Lisi found tech as her place to be in 2009 and has grown as a specialized generalist ever since. She's passionate about the whole-team approach to holistic testing and quality and enjoys experimenting and learning continuously. Building great products that deliver value together with great people motivates her and lets her thrive. Hilary Weaver is a Sr. Quality Engineer near Detroit. She is a mentor to her fellow testers, makes friends with developers, and focuses a lot on API testing, and diving into the code as a tester. Hilary has always been passionate about improving the relationships between developers and testers, and evangelizes software testing as a rewarding, viable career. She runs the Motor City Software Testers user group, working to build a community of quality advocates. Marianne Duijst works as an Agile Quality Coach at Sogeti, and held previous roles as a Tester, Software Engineer, Scrum Master, Developer and High School Teacher. She is a frequent speaker at testing conferences around the world and enjoys speaking about critical thinking, work culture and being a Girl Scout. She often sketchnotes to share and learn. Her love for IT and the Testing profession comes from a love for puzzles, logic, and structure mixed together with her creative, writing and crocheting mind.
