I am a big believer that confidence is built on actively doing things. Particularly, doing things you never done before, there is no much evidence it will work or people who would confirm your theory.

When you have more junior people in your team it is essential to give them space to try new things. Space without overarching them, without shadowing them as senior person, without over pouring all that knowledge I have already got. They need to go out there and take their skills and knowledge building path. You patiently wait to provide support and guidance when they need.

"Try and tell me later how it goes" - I often tell them.

"Let me know how your experiment is going, I'd love to hear about your learnings".

I let them know that seniority and hierarchy should not hold us back from trying a new things by ourselves and sharing our learnings with others. We agree.

Later we align, we share learnings, we know how to approach things and how not to. We laugh and we celebrate.
