TLDR;  At Ministry of Testing we have enabled community bookmarking. Professional members can now boost everyone's contributions with links to the MoTaverse.

Community bookmarking > Social bookmarking. Innovation doesn't always come from new ideas. Sometimes, it's about taking what exists, combining them in a new way and creating a nurturing environment. In that sense, the ability to add links is nothing new, but in the context of the MoTaverse it expands our world.

Where is it going? We are looking at this through a different lense. It's not just about adding links.

It's also about:

  • uplifting other people's work: bookmark their links and tag them in it. Imagine coming to the MoTaverse and discover others sharing your work? I believe we can create that culture.
  • creating a testing and quality engineering knowledge base: we encourage you to add what is interesting, what matters and to tag it accordingly
  • do more with links: adding a link will appear on your MoT Profile, if a person is tagged it will appear on their profile too. In addition to this links can be added to collections. Here's an example of a collection on MCPs that has links.
  • identifying trends, together: community bookmarking is an observatory, it gives us an opportunity to see what is happening within the ecosystem, and then figure out ways to use the insights.
  • saving time: let's be honest, finding information is time consuming, we're here to not only respect your precious time, we also believe that by sharing links together will enable us all to learn better

Only available to Professional Members. At Ministry of Testing we are working towards sustainability, both as a business but also in our workload. Enabling Community Bookmarking for everyone would lead to a spam fest that would end up serving no one. As a result, this feature is available to Professional Members. This means it supports our needs as a business, whilst also doubling down on people who are more likely to care and submit great content.

Reality check. Within TeamMoT we have a saying to not let the social networks have all the fun. This is partly because we believe social networks lack the depth that professional industries need. However, it's also about recognising that we can bring in some of the social network ideas into a space of more serious knowledge exploration. With the goal of creating a space of deep and immense value to all.

Let's explore three ways of community bookmarks in action. An MoT Profile. A collection. And The Observatory.
