It’s here! MoT Community Certification

Your contributions to this software testing community matter

A certificate of achievement from the Ministry of Testing. It is awarded to "YOUR NAME HERE!!!" for successfully achieving the MoT Community Certificate on October 15, 2024. The certificate number is MOT-CC-f404d99z202r426. It is signed by Simon Tomes, Community Lead.

Earlier this year we announced the idea of MoT Community Certifications as a way to commit and follow through with the idea of delivering on them. We’re pleased to announce that we have started shipping them!

So, what exactly are they? The foundational principle of all our community certifications is that members make several community contributions to be awarded one. We have a hand-cranked community algorithm that cannot be manipulated. Also, the number of contributions may vary depending on the certification we award.

The MoT Community Certifications have been awarded to people who have been awarded 5 Community Stars. I bet you are asking how you can get a Community Star too! Contribute to the community! You can do this in many ways. Be helpful on The Club. Get quoted on a Testing Trend piece. Write an article. Speak, host or support an event. There are many ways, but you can be sure we are watching and awarding Community Stars every month.

Is it just a gimmick? We don’t believe so and we’re putting our heart and energy into making it meaningful to support people’s careers. Ministry of Testing exists because of the community. Community contributions are everywhere and they help us all connect, grow and learn together. They are valuable and deserve recognition. A community certification is awarded only to those who contribute consistently and positively.

Why bother? Perhaps the one thing we all have in common is the need to advance our software testing career. Making your community contributions more visible is a valuable way to do this.

What’s the verdict? Rahul Parwal is out there celebrating his shiny new MoT Community Certification.

Being part of the MoT Community has been a learning experience :)
