The more perspectives we explored, the clearer it became that quality is subjective.
For some, it is the frictionless experience of a product that simply works. For others, it is longevity and adaptability, ensuring something is fit for purpose today and tomorrow. In a manufacturing context, it might mean attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship. In a service context, it might mean confidence, culture, and collaboration.
Everyday life offers countless examples. A Ferrari may embody engineering excellence, but for a family of five managing daily school runs, it is hardly fit for purpose. A Rolex and a Casio both tell the time, but one is valued for its status and aesthetics, the other for durability and function. Even something as ordinary as a toothbrush reflects different standards of quality: soft bristles, hard bristles or electric with each choice being shaped by personal expectation.
Quality is not fixed. It shifts with needs, context, and perspective.
