Find software testing professionals on Bluesky 🦋

The MoTaverse connects quality people wherever they are

TLDR; We're working on connecting you to each other, wherever you may be. We may start playfully referring to this the MoTaverse. We are highlighting this with an example with Bluesky, a Twitter/X-like replacement.

So what? Don't groan at the idea of yet another social network. The world is changing around us, unpredictably and constantly. We view it as our role to stay on top of what is happening for software testing and quality professionals and find ways to help us continue to thrive.

Why it matters…we are being digitally displaced. We don't know where to go as companies and  social networks continue to fail us. The ethics of companies are questionable and change under increasing pressures around them. And whilst I don't want to get political, what I do believe is that together, as community, we are stronger. At Ministry of Testing we are doing what we can to help connect people, wherever they are.

Adapt to survive…every company out there needs to adapt, we are no different. The work we do is how we adapt. We shared what MoT worked on in 2024. As part of this, we launched MoT Profiles, which we wanted to specifically call out the ability to easily find other Bluesky users.

We created Bluesky Starter Packs (view one and two) as a way to find fellow community members, but the reality soon kicked in that it's a total pain to maintain on our end. It ends up becoming a flawed way of trying to finding people. Whilst we try to be inclusive with the lists, it's very error-prone, and it's reliant on MoT (and usually me at this point, to be honest) to spot requests to be added. The reality is that we believe it would be easier for software testing professionals to be the ones who update and maintain their MoT Profiles as a way to connect with others elsewhere.

What's next? The reality is that building, maintaining and sustaining MoT is very much like building a plane whilst flying. As a small team we are pushing forward with features and shipping them in iterations. They are good enough, but not quite in a state that we envision to them to be longer term. Partly we ask for forgiveness for not being perfect, but we also ask for feedback and help in spotting problems.

The good news is that we ship things fast(er). And in this case, you can view a list of MoT members who have updated their MoT profile with their Bluesky username

There's a screenshot below of a small view of MoT Members who have added their Bluesky profile.

What's more…there's actually way more we can do with this. For example, it is possible to filter on LinkedIn profiles too. We also hope to be able to filter on other data points in the future. This is just the start and we recognise that we haven't built in filtering options, yet. It's coming!

Help the MoTaverse…we absolutely love the work we are doing right now. One way you can help us is to go to My MoT, update your profile and make it public. It's free to create a public MoT Profile.

👉 I'm in! Update MoT Profile.
