Commission Testing

Commissioning Testing (also known as Commission Testing) is the final phase of testing conducted before a system or software is formally released for operational use. It validates that the system meets all specified requirements and performs reliably within its intended real-world environment. This type of testing is especially relevant in enterprise platforms integrated into larger operational ecosystems, and is common in regulated domains such as insurance, healthcare, and building management systems.

Key characteristics include:
  • End-to-end validation - ensures complete system functionality, including hardware, software, interfaces, integrations, and reporting.
  • Real-world conditions - executed in the actual operational environment or a close simulation.
  • Compliance and safety checks - includes regulatory, safety, and performance verifications.
  • Operational readiness - confirms the system is ready for use by end users or operators.
  • Controlled use of live data - involves strict processes for handling and validating live or production-like data.
