Community as a service: worth saying, worth repeating

Management, systems thinking, and the loop: Inside the quality architect role image

Hi there. I'mΒ Rosie Sherry, and I'm yourΒ MoTaverse Weekly host.

In the MoTaverse, we've been reflecting and adapting on what it means to be who we are. In some sense we are a network, or a community, or a conference, or education, or, or, or…many things. As part of this, we've been riffing and building confidence on what and how we are building. We call this Community as a Service. Our goal is to help lift careers and advance the tech industry, it's relentless work from our end that requires funding and investment. We're pretty excited about it, how good it feels, how many more people we are actually serving as a result. We'd love it if you could explore Community as a Service with us, Simon and I riff on it in our latest TWiC.

🀯 MoTaCon is coming! Get your ticket.

She/Her

I've been working in the software testing and quality engineering space since the year 2000 whilst also combining it with my love for education and community. It turns out quality, community and education go nicely hand in hand.

Katalon
Author, run, and maintain tests for web, mobile, API, and desktop, in one place.

Katalon builds the tooling for the parts of testing that take your week: writing the tests, keeping them alive when the UI moves, and getting a straight answer out of the results.

Katalon True Platform covers web, mobile, API, and desktop. Katalon Studio is the authoring IDE, with three ways to build a test: agent mode, no code, and full code. Self-healing locators keep runs going when the UI shifts. TestOps handles planning, coverage, and release gating on one shared report. TrueTest looks at how real users move through your product and shows where your coverage is missing.

We are testers talking to testers. If you would rather talk shop than read a pitch, the Katalon Community forum is the place: https://forum.katalon.com/

ACCELQ profile image
ACCELQ
An agentic AI-powered, codeless continuous testing platform for web, mobile, API, database, and packaged applications, including Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, Workday, and ServiceNow.

ACCELQ is an Agentic AI-powered, codeless continuous testing platform for web, mobile, API, database, and packaged applications, including Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, Workday, and ServiceNow.Β

ACCELQ Autopilot uses a coordinated system of AI agents to discover applications, generate tests, execute them, analyze failures, heal test suites, and rerun tests with minimal human direction. Unlike AI-assisted testing tools that still require users to design test flows and apply fixes manually, ACCELQ enables autonomous testing across the lifecycle. Testers can create automation using plain English. If you can describe a test in a sentence, you can build it without writing code. This makes automation accessible to manual testers while helping experienced automation teams scale coverage faster.

Self-healing locators and Anchor Elements adapt to application changes, reducing flaky tests and ongoing maintenance effort. ACCELQ supports unified testing across UI, API, mobile, database, and enterprise application layers, helping teams manage end-to-end quality within a single platform. It is designed for continuous delivery environments where speed, maintainability, and reliable coverage are critical.

ACCELQ was named a Leader in The Forrester Wave: Autonomous Testing Platforms, Q4 2025, receiving the highest Current Offering score and the evaluation’s only Customer Favorite recognition. ACCELQ also holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating on G2 and received an AI Breakthrough Award in 2025. According to ACCELQ customer benchmark data from 2025, teams report 7.5x faster automation development, 72% lower test maintenance effort, and a 53% reduction in testing costs compared with scripted tools.
